Frode Skag Storheim (b. 1988) is a pianist with a particular interest in 19th-century Norwegian music and art.

He completed his Master’s degree in Piano at the Grieg Academy in Bergen in 2016, having studied with Audun Kayser, Jan Hovden, and Torleif Torgersen. In addition, he has received instruction from distinguished musicians including Liv Glaser, Håvard Gimse, Leif Ove Andsnes, and Winfried Apel at the University of Music Dresden (Hochschule für Musik Dresden).

Frode is highly active as a music educator. Alongside his position as a lecturer at the music program in Voss, he spent four years as a regular program note writer for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and is a sought-after speaker and lecturer.

He has appeared as a performing master of ceremonies at several concerts presented by Bergen National Opera at Den Nationale Scene, and has performed as a soloist with the Royal Norwegian Navy Band, the University Symphony Orchestra, the Bergen Youth Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Fossegrimen, and the Symphony Orchestra of Volda University College.

Since 2021, Frode has also been working on a biography of the painter Hans Dahl, a project for which he received a grant from the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFFO). The book was launched in spring 2025, coinciding with the first-ever museum retrospective dedicated exclusively to Dahl: Hans Dahl: Painter of Sunshine (Solskinnsmaleren Hans Dahl) at Blaafarveværket. Frode served as a consultant for this exhibition and is also a consultant for the exhibition Hans Dahl – With a Heart for Balestrand, which opens at the Norwegian Museum of Travel and Tourism in Balestrand on 23 May.

In 2023, Frode was featured as the Pianist of the Week at the Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen, a role he will reprise this year. He has also given concerts at Harald Sæverud’s home Siljustøl, at Christian Michelsen’s residence Gamlehaugen, and appeared at the Peer Gynt Festival at Gålå with the lecture-recital More Grieg! (Mer Grieg!).

He has performed at the Bergen International Festival, Nordland Music Festival Week, Hardingtonar, and has given concerts in more than a dozen European countries.
