Sara Aimée Smiseth is born and raised in Haugerud, Oslo, where she is trained both as a pianist (Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague) and as a musicologist (University of Oslo). She has gained recognition for her distinctive combination of vivid storytelling and virtuosic piano performances. An exceptionally activetouring artist, her concert narratives have been experienced by thousands of audience members in Norway and abroad.
In recent years, Smiseth has appeared as the soloist in Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor in Tartu, Estonia, a European Capital of Culture. She has also released her critically acclaimed debut album, Backer Grøndahl – Piano Works, and has been invited to perform at prestigious venues such as the Mendelssohn House in Leipzig.
In 2026, her projects include the premiere of a brand-new concert narrative entitled Europe 1901, and she will return to Kode and Troldhaugen as “Pianist of the Week” for asecond time.
Smiseth also appears regularly as a performing presenter and lecturer for the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and the Oslo Philharmonic. As a performing master ofceremonies, she has guided audiences through several major events, including performances at the University Aula in Oslo and on the main stage of the Opera House.
