"Skråblikk på Haugtussa" is a brand new work by composer Knut Vaage, where he has taken a new glance at Edvard Grieg's well-known song cycle "Haugtussa", op. 67.

In the composition process, he has also turned directly to Arne Garborg's monumental poetry, in order to find a different approach to the one Grieg chose.

Vaage's text selection focuses on nature and mystery. References to Grieg are sometimes heard, where there is a natural meeting point in the poems, but for the most part he examines the part of Garborg's text that Grieg did not use.

Vaage has also previously dealt with Grieg, in the work "20 looks at opus 54". Here he made new compositions based on Grieg's opus 54, "Lyric pieces V".

"Skråblikk på Haugtussa" can be seen as a continuation of this project, and also incorporates some elements from the work on opus 54.
