"Kvinneakt" by Jean Heiberg was painted in 1912. Although Heiberg created several nude paintings, this is his most well-known. He studied under the renowned master Henri Matisse in Paris. Like his teacher, Heiberg emphasised the decorative qualities of his subjects by simplifying them into flat areas of colour separated by bold contour lines.

In this 15-minute art talk, we will take a closer look at how, with this painting from the Rasmus Meyer Collection, Heiberg breaks away from the long-standing tradition of the nude in Western art.
