August at Kunstsatelitten

Manuel Portioli: Drømmer: lab

When

Kode’s Art Satellite originates from Kode’s Education Department and is a long-term initiative aimed at making the museum more open, relevant, and inclusive. The Art Satellite is designed to reflect the rhythm of the neighborhood, take shape through dialogue with the local community, and create space for new stories—making art more accessible in everyday life.

From the project space at Sletten Senter, we invite the public to take part in workshops, conversations, music, and artistic processes across ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Here, you can explore different printmaking techniques, listen to music, meet artists, and take part in creating.

The Art Satellite is located on the first floor of Sletten Senter, in a space next to the pharmacy. You’ll recognize it by the windows filled with colors, drawings, and activity.

Opening Hours:
Monday: 16:30 – 19:30
Tuesday: 10:00 – 14:00 (except August 5 and 12)
Wednesday: 16:30 – 19:30
Thursday: 10:00 – 14:00 (except August 21)

A project about hope, imagination, the future, and the unconscious

A collective mural created by the neighborhood – Come paint your dreams with us!

What do you dream of?

In this project, you’ll have the opportunity to paint your dreams directly onto the walls of Sletten Storsenter – together with everyone who wants to join.

Let’s share our dreams by painting them side by side, creating a colorful and imaginative image together.

You only need to show up – we’ll provide brushes, paint, and aprons – and you can be part of this collective mural!

The project is designed as a shared experience, where people from different backgrounds meet and communicate through painting. The artist will ensure that everyone can participate, regardless of experience, by using visual languages such as shapes, colors, and figures.

The artist will also help connect everyone’s contributions so that the entire work becomes one large, cohesive piece of art – shaped by all participants.

Participants will be asked: “What do you dream of?”
They will answer by painting it directly on the wall.

The goal of the project is to create a new kind of dialogue – one that doesn’t rely on sound or speech – and to share ownership of a large-scale artwork with everyone who uses Sletten Storsenter in their daily life.

The names of all participants will be recorded and listed on a plaque next to the artwork, titled Dreams.

What does “Dreams” mean to you?

Based on the question “What does dreaming – physically or in imagination – mean to you?” participants will create images and stories that reflect their own experiences, dreams, and perspectives.

The project is inspired by a previous edition in Bologna, where more than 100 people contributed to creating a 90-square-meter artwork.

Open Workshop

Open workshops will be held in August (dates to be announced soon). You can join once or multiple times and contribute to the artistic process. The project will conclude with a presentation and gathering for participants and the public.

The project was previously carried out at the cultural center Italo Calvino in Italy. A documentation film is available here.
