When

Kode’s Art Satellite originates from Kode’s Education Department and is a long-term part of our work to make the museum more open, relevant, and inclusive. The Art Satellite aims to reflect the rhythm of the neighborhood, take shape through dialogue with the local community, and create space for new stories—making art more accessible in everyday life.

From the project space at Sletten Senter, we invite the public to join workshops, conversations, music, and artistic processes across ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Here, you can explore different printmaking techniques, listen to music, meet artists, and take part in creating.

The Art Satellite is located on the first floor of Sletten Senter, in a space next to the pharmacy. You’ll recognize it by the windows filled with colors, drawings, and activity.

Opening hours: Will be updated here as soon as they are confirmed.

Finding the Way Home? – A Peace Project

Carrier Pigeons, Dreams of Peace, and Poetic Workshops

In this project, artists Borghild Rudjord Unneland and Vibeke Nørgaard Rønsbo explore the role of the carrier pigeon—as a messenger, a symbol of freedom, and a sign of peace.

At the same time, they consider how the world—and Norway today—is shaped by conflict and isolation, raising the questions:
What does it mean to find your way home in our time? And where can peace-building begin—perhaps right in the familiar and everyday?

Through exhibitions, writing workshops, and conversations, the public is invited into an artistic and socially engaged space where everyone can participate and contribute.

A Living Space with Carrier Pigeons and Participation

During the project period, it will be possible to meet live pigeons—tactile, sensory, and present.

The project includes writing workshops for all ages, where participants can express thoughts and hopes for peace in short poetic texts. These texts will become part of a growing, collective artwork.

The historical and cultural aspect of pigeon keeping in Bergen is highlighted, with a particular focus on the Landås and Slettebakken pigeon history. Pigeons and local pigeon keeping are presented in collaboration with pigeon keeper Stein Thorsen.

The project period concludes on Liberation Day, June 8, 2026, with a pigeon release carrying messages of peace back home.

About the Artists

Borghild Unneland and Vibeke Nørgaard Rønsbo both have extensive experience with site-specific and participatory art projects. Together, they explore how symbols, corporeality, nature, and collective action can offer new approaches to existential questions and civic engagement.
