Lysverket, Rasmus Meyer and Stenersen lie in a row in Rasmus Meyer’s allé along lake Lille Lungegårdsvann. Permanenten is located in the extension of the street, but you have to cross the street Christies gate to get there. From the direction of Torgallmenningen, Permanenten is closest to you, whereas Lysverket is closest if you arrive from the train station or bus station.
The four museums are located close to Festplassen and just a short walk from the railway station, bus station and the Bergen Light Rail stops Byparken and Nonneseter.
There are several parking houses close to the museums. The closest one is GriegGarasjen in Lars Hilles gate 3.
Practical information about Lysverket
The art museums accommodate our disabled visitors by direct access via either ramp or wheelchair lift. All buildings have lifts, and there are reserved parking spots right outside the Rasmus Meyer collections. All buildings have accessible toilets. We accept companion cards.
There are guided tours every Saturday and Sunday at 13.00 and 14.00 (in Norwegian only). During summer, from June to August, there are guided tours in English offered every day.
You can borrow strollers and slings for free at the reception. Toddlers must be carried in front to avoid contact with artworks and objects. You may not bring your personal stroller or kid carrier to the exhibition spaces.
We appreciate our visitors keeping good distance to the artworks – also when pointing. Some exhibition rooms are more intimate than others; please be aware there might be a painting on the wall behind you.
The security guards in the exhibitions will make you aware should you happen to breach any safety regulations.
Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition spaces. There are three restaurants/cafés at the museums: Bien Centro restaurant at Permanenten, Café Smakverket at Stenersen and the Michelin restaurant Lysverket at Lysverket.
We kindly ask that large bags, backpacks, umbrellas and coats/overcoats are left in the cloakroom. Bags of larger sizes than 30x35x10 cm and valuables must be placed in the secure lockers you find in all four buildings. If you need storage for larger luggage items, we recommend the train station or bus station lockers right nearby.
There are toilets in every building.
Animals are not allowed in the museums with the exception of guide dogs.
You are welcome to take photos inside the museums, but we kindly ask you to use a handheld camera and no flash. For commercial photos or photos for media use, please contact the museum’s communication department.
We kindly ask that you keep your outerwear on or tied around your waist in the exhibition spaces.
There are toilets with changing rooms at Lysverket and Stenersen.
For safety reasons, all exhibition rooms are equipped with camera surveillance, as well as the areas between the buildings outside (these are marked).

Yes, Troldhaugen is open all year round. In the summer season from May to September, the opening hours are extended.

We have our own café at the Edvard Grieg museum at Troldhaugen. In the art museums, you can visit cafés and restaurants at Lysverket, Stenersen and Permanenten.
